A three-storey building collapsed along the Murree Expressway in the Lacot area on Friday after heavy monsoon rains continued to hit the popular hill station. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to officials, the Municipal Corporation Murree had already declared the structure a “dangerous” building before the collapse. As a result, authorities had been monitoring the site due to safety concerns.
Soon after the incident, Rescue 1122 teams reached the location on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Murree. Rescue personnel immediately launched an operation to assess the situation and ensure that no one remained trapped under the debris.
Building Had Already Been Declared Dangerous
Officials confirmed that the collapsed structure had previously been identified as unsafe by the Municipal Corporation Murree. Although the building eventually gave way during the ongoing spell of heavy rain, no loss of life has been reported so far.
The Deputy Commissioner said the administration would conduct a detailed investigation into both the construction of the building and the circumstances surrounding its collapse. Authorities aim to determine whether all safety regulations had been followed before the incident occurred.
Administration Urges Public to Remain Cautious
Following the collapse, the district administration advised residents and visitors to exercise caution throughout the ongoing monsoon season.
Officials urged travellers to take precautionary measures before beginning their journeys, especially while visiting hilly areas during periods of continuous rainfall. They also advised people to remain alert to changing weather conditions that could affect road safety and public infrastructure.

Meanwhile, intermittent monsoon showers continued across Murree, bringing cooler temperatures and transforming the weather into pleasant conditions.
Cool breezes and thick mist covered different parts of the hill station, attracting a large number of tourists eager to enjoy the seasonal beauty. Despite the improved weather, authorities reminded visitors not to ignore official safety advisories.
The administration emphasized that weather conditions can change quickly during the monsoon season. Therefore, tourists should remain vigilant while travelling through mountainous areas.
Officials also urged citizens to follow safety instructions issued by local authorities until the current spell of monsoon rains subsides. Continuous monitoring of vulnerable structures and affected areas remains underway to reduce potential risks during the ongoing rainfall.
