ISLAMABAD: Polish cyclist Sławomir Strzelczyk has completed an adventurous 1,390-kilometre bicycle journey from Islamabad to Khunjerab Pass. His expedition took him through Pakistan’s scenic landscapes, historic locations and spectacular mountain valleys.
The journey aimed to strengthen Pakistan-Poland friendship while promoting tourism and cultural exchange. It also highlighted Pakistan as an attractive destination for international cyclists and adventure travellers.
Strzelczyk completed the challenging route after travelling through several cities and mountain communities. His journey showcased the country’s diverse scenery and cultural heritage along the way.
Polish Cyclist Reaches Khunjerab Pass
The Embassy of Poland in Islamabad confirmed the successful completion of the expedition. Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski met Strzelczyk after his arrival at Khunjerab Pass.
The ambassador congratulated the cyclist on completing the demanding journey. He also praised the expedition for highlighting the strong friendship between Pakistan and Poland.
The journey began on July 26 from the parking area of Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. From there, Strzelczyk began his long cycling route toward the Pakistan-China border.
His route included several important destinations across northern Pakistan. The cyclist travelled through Abbottabad, Besham, Chilas, Gilgit and Hunza.
He then continued through Gulmit, Passu and Sost before reaching Khunjerab Pass. The destination is among the world’s highest international border crossings.
