The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has obtained six months of Binance and cryptocurrency-related data during the investigation into the Mir Raza Ali case.
The 25-year-old’s death has raised serious questions, with his family accusing police of attempting to conceal key facts. Authorities initially explored the possibility that the incident involved suicide.
NCCIA Asked to Analyse Binance Transactions
The NCCIA received a request to obtain six months of data linked to Mir Raza. The agency has since shared the multi-page information with the investigation committee.
Sources said the data was also submitted to the judicial commission in a format resembling call detail records (CDRs).
Police have now asked the NCCIA to analyse the information and explain the Binance transactions in simple terms. Police reportedly lack the technical expertise needed to interpret complex cryptocurrency data.
However, the NCCIA has coding and technical experts who can examine the information and identify relevant transaction details.
The analysis is expected to establish the number of transactions conducted each day during the six-month period.
NCCIA Analysis Could Provide Key Evidence
According to sources, the agency received the data from external sources before beginning its analysis. The NCCIA is expected to provide the findings to police by tomorrow.
Authorities have already received a soft copy of the obtained data, according to sources.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Forensic Science Agency informed the investigation committee that it could not access Mir Raza’s iPhone.
As a result, the Apple Watch and iPhone will now be returned to the investigation committee.
Investigators recovered several screenshots and messages from Mir Raza’s Apple Watch. However, the material was reportedly not considered significant to the investigation.
The cryptocurrency data analysis could therefore provide investigators with additional information about Mir Raza’s financial activity during the months preceding his death.
