A young businessman from Karachi was found dead days after he was reportedly abducted, prompting a police investigation into the suspected murder.
The victim was identified as Mir Raza Ali, owner of the popular waffle dessert chain WAFFLIX. His body was recovered from bushes near Shahi Qila Ground, close to a wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 1.
Following the recovery, authorities shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
Businessman Reported Missing Before Body Was Found
According to police, Mir Raza Ali was a resident of PECHS Block 2. He owned the WAFFLIX outlet near Bahadurabad Chowrangi.
Investigators confirmed that a kidnapping case had already been registered after his reported disappearance.
Days later, police located his body during their investigation, leading authorities to expand the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police Suspect Attempt to Conceal Victim’s Identity
Police said the body appeared to have remained at the location for one to two days.
Authorities also found burn injuries on several parts of the body, making identification difficult.
According to investigators, Mir Raza Ali’s father identified him through his clothing. Police also confirmed his identity using a distinguishing mark on his back.
Preliminary findings suggest those responsible may have attempted to conceal the victim’s identity by using acid on the body before abandoning it.
However, investigators stressed that the exact circumstances surrounding the injuries remain under investigation.
Post-Mortem to Determine Cause of Death
Police said the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
Officials stated that the final conclusion will depend on the post-mortem report.
Until then, investigators are continuing to collect evidence and examine all available leads.
Investigation Underway
Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify those involved in the suspected killing.
Authorities are also working to determine the motive behind the crime.
The case remains under investigation, while officials await the post-mortem findings to establish the precise cause of death and support further legal proceedings.
