The Karachi missing baby case has taken a new turn as police record statements from people linked to the alleged disappearance.
The alleged disappearance of a newborn at a private hospital in Nazimabad has prompted a detailed investigation by police.
As part of the probe, the investigation committee summoned the woman’s husband, doctors and hospital employees for questioning.
The woman’s husband appeared at Nazimabad police station, while the lady doctor who performed the operation also provided her statement.
Other hospital employees present during the alleged delivery were also summoned, with investigators recording their statements late at night.
Police are now examining the conflicting accounts to determine whether a child was actually delivered at the hospital.
Hospital Records and CCTV Footage Seized
Meanwhile, investigators have taken custody of important evidence from the hospital as they continue examining the circumstances surrounding the case.
This evidence includes CCTV footage and computerized hospital records, which the committee will examine on technical grounds.
According to police, the hospital administration maintains that the child was not born during the procedure.
Therefore, investigators are reviewing the available evidence to establish what happened during the woman’s treatment.
The committee is also examining the affected woman’s medical information, including her medical history and treatment records.
Additionally, investigators may summon other hospital employees if their statements become necessary during the ongoing inquiry.
Family Submits Pregnancy Documents
Meanwhile, sources said the family has submitted pregnancy-related documents to the medical committee for examination.
According to these documents, the newborn was reportedly born alive, while doctors had recorded the woman as 40 weeks pregnant.
However, the hospital administration maintains that the woman was not pregnant, creating conflicting claims surrounding the alleged delivery.
The medical committee is now examining the documents alongside the hospital’s records and other available evidence.
Family Raises Allegations Over Newborn’s Disappearance
The case emerged after the family alleged that the woman had regularly visited the hospital throughout her pregnancy.
According to the family, she underwent regular check-ups, ultrasounds and medical tests at the same hospital.
The family further alleged that she underwent an operation on her expected delivery date at the facility.
However, they claimed that hospital officials informed them afterward that no baby had been born.
Following these allegations, police sought medical assistance and began reviewing the hospital’s records and other available evidence.
The investigation is now focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding the alleged delivery and subsequent disappearance.
Medical Findings to Guide Further Legal Action
The investigation committee will assess the statements, medical records, CCTV footage and computerized hospital data gathered during the inquiry.
At the same time, the Medical-Legal Officer’s report will provide another important part of the investigation.
Further legal action will follow the findings of the medical committee and the Medical-Legal Officer.
For now, investigators are examining the conflicting claims made by the family and the hospital administration.
