KARACHI: Mubeena Town Police have arrested a man accused of targeting citizens outside ATM booths and robbing them after they withdrew money.
Police identified the suspect as Asif, son of Amanat Ali. Officers said he allegedly waited near ATM booths and watched people arriving to withdraw cash.
According to police, the suspect then targeted selected individuals and robbed them after they completed their transactions.
CCTV Footage Helps Police Trace Suspect
Police used CCTV footage to identify and track the suspect. The footage reportedly helped investigators establish his alleged involvement in the ATM-related robberies.
Following the investigation, Mubeena Town Police conducted an operation and arrested Asif.
Officers also recovered several items from his possession during the arrest.
These included a snatched mobile phone, an ATM card and cash, according to police.
The recovery has added to the evidence being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Case Registered Against Suspect
Police have registered a case against the arrested suspect under the relevant law.
Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to question Asif and examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged robberies.
Police are also collecting further information about his previous criminal record. Investigators will determine whether he has been involved in similar incidents in the past.
The arrest comes as police continue using surveillance footage and other investigative methods to identify suspects involved in street crimes. Further findings from the investigation could reveal whether Asif allegedly operated alone or had links with other suspects.
