Heavy rains have once again brought severe flash flooding to Lower Chitral, causing widespread damage and disrupting vital connections. Floodwaters surged through the Broz and Gumbas Gol streams, carrying away the remaining section of Gumbas Bridge.
The flooding also pushed large amounts of debris onto nearby roads. As a result, authorities closed the Chitral-Peshawar Road to traffic while clearing operations began.
The latest flooding has added to the difficulties faced by communities across the mountainous district. Several areas now face disrupted transport, damaged infrastructure and limited communication.
Flash Floods Damage Roads and Infrastructure
Floodwaters also damaged a petrol station in the affected area. Meanwhile, debris blocked key sections of the road and made travel dangerous for motorists.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has deployed heavy machinery to clear the Chitral-Peshawar Road. Workers are removing flood debris to restore traffic movement as quickly as possible.
However, the damage extends beyond the main highway. Flash floods have also blocked roads in Baroz Gol and Sheedi village.
