A viral video of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s United Nations speech has been flagged as misleading after being recirculated online.
US journalist Caitlin Doornbos said the footage is from September 2025, not from Sharif’s scheduled UN address on September 25, 2026.
Journalist Challenges Viral “Our Terrorists” Claim
The clip has circulated on social media with claims that Sharif referred to terrorists as “our terrorists.”
Doornbos disputed that wording. She said Sharif actually used the phrase “terrorists we encountered.”
The distinction changes the context of the statement being shared online.
According to the report, Sharif’s original remarks concerned Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and its role in preventing security threats from reaching countries including the United States and United Kingdom.
Old Video Recirculated Ahead of 2026 UN Speech
Doornbos also highlighted that the video was recorded in 2025.
Her clarification came as the old footage was being recirculated ahead of Sharif’s upcoming address at the 81st UN General Assembly.
Sharif is scheduled to deliver Pakistan’s address on September 25, 2026.
Doornbos said the timing and altered wording could create a misleading impression about Sharif’s position on terrorism.
Context Behind the Viral Clip
The original remarks were presented in the context of Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism.
Doornbos also connected the discussion to US President Donald Trump’s repeated calls for countries to address security threats within their own regions.
The viral clip therefore involves two separate issues: the date of the footage and the wording attributed to Sharif.
