Lahore police have arrested a man accused of repeatedly harassing female university students and teachers outside a university in the Satukatla area.
The arrest came after a video showing the suspect allegedly harassing students and teachers went viral on social media.
The incident prompted the DIG Operations to take notice and direct police to identify and arrest the suspect without delay.
Suspect Allegedly Targeted Students Outside University
According to police, the suspect allegedly harassed female students and teachers outside the university on a regular basis.
Investigators also alleged that he attempted to lure underage female students into his vehicle using different pretexts.
Police said the suspect was identified as Nadeem. Authorities have registered a case against him and handed him over to the Gender Cell for further proceedings.
The vehicle allegedly used in the incidents has also been taken into police custody as part of the investigation.
Police Promise Action Against Harassment
Police officials said the investigation would determine the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and whether the suspect was involved in any other incidents.
SP Sadar Abdullah Imran Cheema said indiscriminate action would be taken against individuals involved in harassment of women and female students.
The authorities urged victims and witnesses of similar incidents to report such cases so that legal action can be taken.
Police said further proceedings against the arrested suspect will continue under the law.
