A satirical social media account focused on Indiaโs Gen Z concerns has gone viral. The Instagram page, known as the โCockroach Janta Party,โ reportedly gained over 22 million followers in a short time. It highlighted issues such as unemployment and exam paper leaks.
Founder Claims Hacking and Threats
Founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the account faced a coordinated crackdown. He claimed the website was taken down and the X account was withheld in India. He also said the Instagram account was compromised and his family received threats. Authorities have not confirmed any action.
The controversy sparked political reactions and debate over online expression. A senior government minister dismissed the online movement, while digital rights groups criticized alleged blocking as a restriction on free speech. Officials from Indiaโs home and IT ministries have not commented.
Youth Concerns and Survey Findings
A survey by Cvoter indicated strong youth concern over unemployment and governance issues. It found that many young respondents feel anxious about their future. Analysts said the movement reflects growing frustration over joblessness and education system challenges.
