Two shocking videos showing traffic police officials allegedly assaulting citizens in Peshawar and Swat have recently gone viral on social media. Consequently, these videos have triggered widespread public anger and loud calls for immediate accountability.
In the first incident, which occurred in Swat, two traffic police officials were seen allegedly assaulting a car driver during a roadside altercation.
According to the viral footage, one of the officials pointed a pistol at the driver. He then allegedly struck the citizen with the butt of the weapon and smashed the vehicle’s windshield.
Government Responds to Swat Incident
In a swift response, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government took immediate notice of the viral video. Officials quickly suspended both involved traffic police officers. The department has attached them to police headquarters pending a transparent inquiry.
Regarding the incident, the provincial government released a clear statement:
โThe provincial government will not tolerate misconduct toward citizens or the misuse of official authority under any circumstances,โ
Furthermore, the regional traffic police department formed a dedicated inquiry committee to investigate the matter. The department directed the committee to contact the affected citizen immediately to ensure justice.
Second Assault Reported in Peshawar
Meanwhile, a separate incident took place at Chongi Chowk in Peshawar. Another viral video allegedly shows traffic police personnel assaulting a citizen in broad daylight.
According to eyewitness claims shared online, the officials also damaged the citizenโs vehicle during the tense confrontation. The footage appears to show a police officer drawing a pistol and allegedly threatening the people nearby.
These back-to-back incidents have sparked intense criticism across social media platforms. Now, thousands of citizens are demanding a thorough investigation and strict punishments for any officers found guilty of abusing their power.
