The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a three-day training program to help university administrators use Artificial Intelligence in their daily work. The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) will conduct the training from October 7 to 9, 2026. The initiative aims to modernise university management and support Pakistan’s digital transformation.
Training Targets University Management
The program targets university management and administrative officials in BPS-17, BPS-18 and BPS-19. Eligible officials include assistant registrars, deputy registrars, controllers, treasurers and other administrative staff.
Universities can nominate up to five suitable officers for the training. However, the organisers will give preference to the top two nominations if available seats are limited.
AI to Improve University Administration
The training will focus on practical applications of AI in university administration. Participants will learn how AI tools can support admissions, examinations and record management. The program will also explore ways to improve overall administrative efficiency.
As a result, university officials can gain skills to streamline routine tasks and improve service delivery.
The initiative also supports HEC’s broader focus on developing AI-ready higher education institutions. HEC has recently expanded AI training for faculty and highlighted the importance of integrating AI across universities.
Training to Expand Across Pakistan
HEC plans to conduct similar training programs through its regional centres in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta. This wider rollout could help more university administrators develop practical AI skills. It could also promote consistent digital practices across higher education institutions.
NAHE already serves as HEC’s national hub for professional development and capacity building among university management and academic staff.
The latest initiative comes as universities increasingly adopt digital tools for governance and administration. Therefore, AI training could help institutions improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery.
