A laborer, reported missing in the Shalimar police jurisdiction of Islamabad, has been abducted by bandits from the Kacha (riverine) area.
The victim was deceived by an unidentified woman who pretended to be interested in marrying him. The kidnappers, who have demanded a ransom of Rs20 million and two iPhones from his son, have taken him to the Kacha area.
According to police sources, Afaq Ahmad reported that his father, Amjad Mehmood, a resident of Mira Beri, went missing on August 21. The family received a call from his father’s phone, where the caller claimed that Amjad was with them in the Kacha area. They threatened that in order to secure his release, Rs20 million and two iPhones were required. They also sent a video via WhatsApp showing Amjad bound in chains to intimidate the family.
A senior federal police officer stated that the abductee was a poor laborer whose wife had passed away some time ago. The officer explained that Amjad had frequently expressed a desire to remarry, but due to high inflation, his son had promised to save up for the marriage. On August 21, Amjad decided to meet the woman who had proposed marriage and did not return home. The kidnappers later informed the family that he had been taken by the Kacha bandits.
The police have obtained all mobile phone records of the abductee, revealing that the woman who lured him was linked to the Kacha bandits. The officer noted that the laborer is now believed to be outside the Islamabad district, possibly in another province, and that all available resources are being mobilized for his recovery.
