After months of remaining behind Jazz and Zong in Pakistanโs 5G rollout, Ufone has started activating its 5G network in Islamabad.
Initial testing confirmed that Ufone 5G has become available in several areas of the capital.
Although testing remained limited to selected locations, the results indicate that the company has started expanding next-generation mobile connectivity in Islamabad.
At this stage, additional active sites may also exist across the city beyond the locations that were verified. As deployment progresses, more users may begin seeing 5G availability on supported devices.
Areas Where Ufone 5G Was Verified
Based on testing conducted in Islamabad, 5G coverage was confirmed in multiple areas across the city.
The identified locations include:
- F-10/3 near the traffic signal on Margalla Road
- Jinnah Avenue sites near New Blue Area
- Areas alongside G-9/2 and G-9/3
- Near Centaurus
- Islamabad Expressway near G-8
- Near Faizabad where Islamabad Expressway connects to Murree Road
- Near Serena Hotel
Since testing covered only selected routes, these locations may not represent the complete coverage footprint. Therefore, additional active sites may appear in other parts of Islamabad.
How Fast Is Ufone 5G?
Testing also provided an early indication of network performance. During movement through covered locations, Ufoneโs 5G network delivered average download speeds exceeding 300 Mbps.
These results are notable because mobile speed tests often produce lower outcomes while users are travelling. As a result, users connected while stationary may experience even higher download performance.
The early results suggest a noticeable improvement in download capacity compared with conventional mobile usage scenarios.
Upload Speeds Show Different Results
While download performance appeared strong during testing, upload speeds showed more moderate results. Upload performance generally remained below 20 Mbps while moving across coverage areas.
Network performance can vary depending on factors such as movement, device compatibility, signal conditions, and local network load. Therefore, actual user experience may differ across locations.
More Coverage Expected Across the Capital
The initial appearance of Ufone 5G suggests that broader deployment may continue in the coming months. As expansion progresses, additional parts of Islamabad may gain access to the network.
For now, the available testing points indicate that Ufone has started taking visible steps toward expanding its 5G footprint in the capital.
With further rollout expected, users may continue monitoring coverage availability and network performance across different areas of Islamabad.
