Two young women were killed in Muridke after allegedly being attacked by a family member over making TikTok videos, police said on Monday.
The victims were identified as 16-year-old Zainab and her 18-year-old sister-in-law. The incident took place in Nangal Kiswala village in Muridke.
Police identified the main suspect as Adnan.
According to the initial report, Adnan allegedly killed both women because they were making videos for TikTok. He fled the scene after the attack.
Police rushed to the area after receiving information about the killings. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for legal and medical procedures.
A first information report was also registered against Adnan and another suspect identified as Saif.
Police later arrested Saif and another accused, Luqman. However, Adnan remained at large at the time of reporting. Authorities have launched efforts to locate and arrest him.
The killings have once again raised serious concerns about violence against women linked to social restrictions, family pressure and online activity.
Young women increasingly use platforms such as TikTok for entertainment and creative expression. However, disputes over social media use have occasionally led to threats and violence within families.
Police are expected to investigate the exact sequence of events and determine the roles of all suspects named in the case.
The incident comes amid another serious crime reported recently in Muridke.
In a separate case, a four-month pregnant woman was allegedly strangled by her stepbrother during a property dispute. The suspect also allegedly took gold earrings and around Rs. 250,000 in cash.
Authorities have registered cases in both incidents, while affected families have demanded swift justice and strict legal action against those responsible.
