Two men wanted in connection with the alleged abduction, sexual assault and murder of Kainat Bibi were killed in a police encounter in Khanpur, police said on Sunday.
According to a police spokesperson, officers entered the area to arrest the suspects. Police said the armed men opened fire after spotting the police team, prompting officers to retaliate.
Police identified the suspects as Allah Ditta Jamali and Hasnain Jamali. Both men allegedly faced charges linked to Kainat Bibiโs abduction, sexual assault and subsequent killing.
Police Recover Weapons After Encounter
The police spokesperson said officers returned fire to protect the lives of the police personnel involved in the operation. The exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of both suspects.
Following the encounter, police searched the area and recovered illegal weapons from the two men. Officers said the recovered weapons would form part of the evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, several other suspected criminals reportedly escaped during the exchange of fire. Police have launched a search operation across nearby areas to locate and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Police teams are continuing the operation around the encounter site. Authorities said officers are checking surrounding areas as they pursue the suspects who escaped during the shooting.
