At least three people were killed and seven others injured in two separate grenade attacks in Balochistan’s Chaman district and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday.
The two incidents occurred in different provinces but within hours of each other. Consequently, police and security forces launched separate investigations to identify those responsible.
The attacks also came days after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that at least 32 terrorists had been killed during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted on the nights of July 28 and 29 in Khyber district and Balochistan’s Nushki district.
Three Killed in Lakki Marwat House Blast
The first incident took place in the Bahram Khel area of Lakki Marwat. According to police, a grenade exploded inside a house, killing three members of the same family.
The deceased were identified as Rashid, his sister-in-law, and his young nephew. In addition, three children sustained injuries in the explosion.
Police said no case has been registered so far. Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine both the motive behind the attack and those responsible.
Labourers Targeted in Chaman Grenade Attack
In the second incident, unidentified assailants hurled a hand grenade at labourers working on the construction of a national highway in Chaman.
According to police, the labourers were asleep at the construction site when the attack occurred. One labourer was killed at the scene. Meanwhile, four others suffered injuries in the explosion.
Rescue teams shifted the injured to Quetta for medical treatment. Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
Separate Investigations Underway
Police have initiated separate investigations into both incidents. Authorities are collecting evidence and examining the circumstances surrounding each attack.
Meanwhile, security agencies continue efforts to identify those involved and establish the motives behind the two grenade attacks.
The incidents have once again highlighted the security challenges faced by different regions, as law enforcement agencies continue investigations into both cases.
