The administrations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have started preparations to manage the PTI’s announced countrywide protest on September 27.
Authorities are considering several security measures, including detaining activists, arranging containers and requesting additional police personnel. Officials are also preparing to procure anti-riot equipment ahead of the demonstration.
Islamabad Police Monitor PTI Activities
Islamabad police have begun collecting information about PTI preparations for the protest. They are also monitoring the activities of party leaders, workers and activists.
Police sources said contractors supplying containers had received instructions to arrange more than 1,000 containers. Authorities want containers of different sizes to block sensitive areas and major roads.
The containers will help seal the Red Zone, High Security Zone and Islamabad’s entry and exit points. Police also plan to use them along major avenues and highways to restrict protesters’ movement.
Security Plan Under Preparation
The demand for containers has increased across the country because of the announced protest. Police forces in Punjab and Sindh are also seeking containers, creating supply shortages among contractors.
Authorities have instructed contractors to arrange the maximum possible number of containers. If contractors cannot meet the demand, police will arrange additional containers independently.
More than 100 containers have already reached Islamabad and are positioned at different locations. These include the Islamabad Traffic Police headquarters, Faizabad, Tarnol and Sangjani.
Meanwhile, authorities are preparing a detailed security plan to determine the personnel required for protest duties. Islamabad police are expected to request additional manpower from other provinces to strengthen security arrangements.
The administrations of both cities are coordinating their preparations ahead of September 27. Officials aim to maintain law and order while managing possible movement toward Islamabad during the protest.
