Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, held a series of high-level meetings during his visit to Pakistan. The discussions focused on defence cooperation, regional security and strategic partnerships.
Upon arriving at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, General Tokel received a guard of honour from a Pakistan Army contingent. The ceremony marked the beginning of his official engagements.
General Tokel later met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Both leaders discussed professional matters, regional security dynamics and opportunities for stronger defence cooperation.
Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding historical, cultural and strategic ties between Pakistan and Tรผrkiye. He also praised the strong partnership between the armed forces of both countries.
Meetings with Military Leadership
During his visit, General Tokel met Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. The meeting focused on professional affairs and regional maritime security.
The Turkish commander also called on Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters. Discussions centred on bilateral military cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
Officials said General Tokel praised the professionalism of Pakistanโs armed forces. He acknowledged their contribution to maintaining regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, he expressed a desire to strengthen institutional linkages and defence collaboration between the two nations.
Commitment to Stronger Defence Partnership
General Tokel also met Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in Islamabad. Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Tรผrkiye.
They described bilateral ties as rooted in shared history, mutual trust and close people-to-people connections. Discussions also covered defence-industrial cooperation and regional developments.
The Turkish commander highlighted the importance of the PakistanโTรผrkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Group. He described the platform as an effective mechanism for advancing defence cooperation.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif thanked the Turkish leadership and people for their continued support of Pakistan. Both sides agreed to expand defence collaboration and strengthen strategic ties.
The meetings concluded with a shared commitment to enhancing military cooperation and promoting regional peace and stability.
