US political commentator Tucker Carlson has claimed that President Donald Trump could authorise a nuclear strike against Iran within days, alleging that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pressuring Washington to launch another attack.
In a lengthy post on social media platform X on Sunday, Carlson identified Pickaxe Mountain in central Iran as a potential target. He claimed Israeli intelligence believes Tehran has resumed nuclear enrichment activities at the underground facility.
Carlson argued that conventional American weapons might not penetrate the estimated 300 feet of granite protecting the underground tunnels. He suggested that a nuclear weapon could become the only military option for destroying the facility.
He further alleged that Netanyahu has repeatedly urged Trump to approve such an operation. However, Carlson provided no independently verified evidence supporting these claims.
Meanwhile, he said Vice President JD Vance and US envoy Steve Witkoff were encouraging Trump to pursue diplomatic negotiations with Tehran.
The allegations emerged as indirect US-Iran negotiations continued in Doha with Qatari mediation.
Trump has previously indicated that Washington could strike remaining Iranian nuclear facilities quickly if necessary. However, neither the White House nor Israeli officials have confirmed Carlson’s claims about a potential nuclear attack.
Analysts have warned that renewed military escalation could threaten regional stability and global energy markets.
