A Rs100,000 investment in a National Savings scheme could grow to Rs300,000 over a 10-year period under the revised schedule.
The federal government has revised profit rates for major National Savings schemes from September 2026. Under the updated schedule, Defence Savings Certificates will retain their 10-year maturity period.
However, the investment value rises gradually throughout the maturity period rather than delivering the full increase at once.
How Rs100,000 Grows Over 10 Years
A Rs100,000 investment in Defence Savings Certificates will reach Rs110,000 after the first year. After two years, the investment value will rise to Rs121,000 under the revised schedule.
The amount will then increase to Rs133,000 after three years and Rs147,000 after four years. After five years, the investment will reach Rs163,000.
The value will continue increasing in the following years as well. After six years, the amount will reach Rs182,000, while it will rise to Rs204,000 after seven years.
By the eighth year, the investment value will increase to Rs230,000. After nine years, the amount will reach Rs262,000.
Finally, the investment will reach Rs300,000 when the Defence Savings Certificate completes its 10-year maturity period.
What Does the 200% Increase Mean?
The revised schedule means a Rs100,000 investment could become Rs300,000 at maturity. In other words, the final value would be Rs200,000 higher than the original investment.
Therefore, the total maturity value represents a 200 percent increase over the initial Rs100,000 amount.
This figure should not be interpreted as a 200 percent annual profit rate. Instead, the increase is spread across the full 10-year maturity period.
Behbood Savings Certificates Also Updated
The government has also revised the profit rate for Behbood Savings Certificates. The change forms part of the latest update to returns offered through National Savings schemes.
The revised rates apply from September 2026 and cover the government’s updated profit schedule.
Therefore, investors in the affected National Savings products will receive returns according to the revised rates and applicable maturity terms.
For Defence Savings Certificates, the latest schedule shows the investment gradually increasing from Rs100,000 to Rs300,000 over 10 years.
