Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has ordered a detailed investigation into the reported marriage of a three-year-old girl to a 60-year-old man in Kuchlak.
The case surfaced on social media and has raised concerns about child protection and the enforcement of laws against child marriage. Authorities have also arrested the girl’s father in connection with the case.
Girl’s Father Arrested in Chaman
Chaman Deputy Commissioner Habib Bangulzai confirmed the arrest of the girl’s father, Abdul Bari. Police are completing formalities for an FIR and his transfer to Quetta police for further proceedings.
Officials are also working to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly involved in the reported marriage. Authorities have said the investigation will examine all aspects of the case.
The reported marriage has also been linked to the recent death of another minor girl in Kuchlak. Police are separately investigating that case and its possible connection with the child marriage matter.
CM Bugti Directs Authorities to Protect Child
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti took notice of the case after reports emerged online.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information Shahid Rind said no person involved would be considered above the law.
He said authorities had been directed to ensure the girl’s protection and provide access to justice. Officials will also take legal action against those found responsible after the investigation establishes the facts.
Rind further directed police and district authorities to pursue the case and avoid any negligence during the investigation.
Balochistan Has Child Marriage Law
The case comes after Balochistan introduced legislation prohibiting child marriage in November 2025.
The Balochistan Child Marriage Prohibition Bill raised the legal marriage age to 18 and provides penalties for violations.
The legislation also applies to people who arrange, encourage or facilitate marriages involving children.
Authorities are now expected to determine the facts surrounding the reported marriage and identify everyone who may have played a role.
The investigation will also determine whether other offences or violations occurred in connection with the case.
Authorities Continue Investigation
The arrest of the girl’s father marks a major development as officials investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported marriage.
Police are pursuing the case while authorities work to locate other alleged participants. Meanwhile, officials have stressed that the child’s safety remains a priority.
The case has renewed attention on child marriage in Balochistan and the enforcement of recently introduced legal protections for minors.
