The Crime Control Department (CCD) has uncovered an alleged drug trafficking network supplying crystal meth to students in educational institutions. Investigators identified TikToker Amreez Baloch as the mastermind during the ongoing probe.
However, the CCD officials said that investigations are underway and the accused would be presented before the relevant court.
According to CCD officials, investigators exposed the network through a planned intelligence-based operation. During the raid, officers arrested Sonia, whom they described as a key operative. They also recovered 1,120 grams of high-quality crystal meth, commonly known as “ice,” from her possession.
Police registered a case against the main drug trafficker and later transferred her to jail. Officials said they followed all legal and medical procedures because she is pregnant. Meanwhile, investigators recorded her statement as part of the First Information Report.
During questioning, Sonia, a member of the network, identified Amreez Baloch as the network’s leader. Investigators claimed the group supplied crystal meth to students and women across different areas.
Furthermore, CCD teams conducted a raid on Bhakkar Road using information provided by the suspect. During the operation, an accused identified as Waheed was killed. Officials also stated that another alleged network member, Basit Shah, had previously died in a separate CCD operation.
Investigators identified Sonia as a resident of Harmalpura and the wife of Munawar Abbas Machhi. She allegedly told investigators that financial hardship and her husband’s unemployment pushed her into drug trafficking. She also claimed she obtained narcotics from Chak 215 before distributing them to customers.
The suspects used WhatsApp and Snapchat to contact their customers. Authorities will conduct a forensic examination of Sonia’s mobile phone. Meanwhile, multiple CCD teams continue raids to arrest Amreez Baloch and other alleged network members as the investigation proceeds.
