Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Lango praised security forces for thwarting what he described as terrorist attempts during Independence Day celebrations.
He congratulated the people of Balochistan for celebrating the country’s 80th Independence Day despite security threats.
Lango made the remarks during a press conference alongside Provincial Advisor on Interior Affairs Baber Yousafzai.
Minister Describes Attack Near Kalat
Lango said he travelled to Kalat to participate in Independence Day celebrations. He also held several meetings with different institutions during his visit.
After the celebrations, he returned to Quetta in the personal vehicle of SSP Kalat.
According to Lango, the vehicle came under fire at Kund Umrani. He said terrorists attempted to target the vehicles with a sniper.
The minister said police personnel responded to the attack. Several officers sustained injuries during the exchange.
“Our police personnel were wounded in the terrorist firing as Police engaged the terrorists for 20 minutes”, Balochistan Home Minister added.
He said police personnel responded effectively during the attack. Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) and police in Mastung took timely action against the attackers.
Five Personnel Reportedly Injured
Lango said five personnel were injured in an attack carried out by armed men.
He praised the sacrifices made by security forces in Balochistan. According to the minister, their response helped foil the terrorists’ plans during the Independence Day celebrations.
The minister also highlighted the difficulties faced by the people of Balochistan. He said the Baloch nation had endured significant hardships over the years.
Lango Criticises Terrorist Groups
Lango rejected the claim that terrorists were fighting for rights and freedoms. He also alleged that terrorist leadership was being held hostage.
Furthermore, he claimed that terrorists were receiving backing from India and Afghanistan.
The minister’s remarks came after the reported attack near Kund Umrani. Meanwhile, security personnel continued efforts to respond to threats during the Independence Day celebrations.
Lango also praised police and other security personnel for their response. He said their actions helped prevent terrorists from disrupting celebrations across Balochistan.
The minister’s comments highlighted the security challenges faced during the province’s Independence Day events. At the same time, he praised residents for marking the occasion despite the reported threats.
