US President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.

Trump Highlights Pakistan-India Ceasefire
Trump said he had helped settle several international conflicts since returning to office. He included the Pakistan-India conflict among the disputes he said his administration helped resolve.
During his speech, Trump said Shehbaz had thanked him for his role. Trump also claimed the intervention helped save 30 million lives.
The figure was presented by Trump as part of his account of the May 2025 ceasefire. His remarks focused on his administration’s claimed diplomatic role in ending the escalation.
US President Praises Pakistan
Trump also described Pakistan as a “great country” during his UN address. His remarks highlighted the relationship between Washington and Islamabad.
The US president has previously spoken positively about Pakistan’s leadership and its role in regional diplomacy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz has also publicly acknowledged US efforts during the May 2025 crisis between Pakistan and India.
Shehbaz Attends UN General Assembly
Shehbaz arrived in New York ahead of the UN General Assembly meetings. His schedule includes discussions on regional and international issues.
The 81st UN General Assembly is bringing world leaders together in New York from September 22 to 28.
