Officials have detected technical faults in six of the 11 electric buses deployed in Murree under Punjab’s Green Bus Electric Bus Project. Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi took immediate notice of the issue. He visited the buses with a technical team to assess their condition.
Following the inspection, Shirazi wrote to the Transport Secretary and requested immediate repairs. He also sought complete technical clearance for the affected buses before they return to service.
Chinese Engineers to Inspect Buses
According to officials, Chinese engineers will soon visit Murree to identify and repair the technical faults. They will also conduct a detailed inspection of all 11 electric buses.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner has ordered officials to keep the affected buses off the roads. The buses will only resume operations after technicians declare them fully fit.
The administration has stressed that passenger safety remains a priority. Officials said precautionary measures would prevent inconvenience to residents and tourists.
Once technicians complete the repairs and provide clearance, the buses will resume operations. The administration expects the service to offer safer, cleaner and more comfortable transportation across Murree.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had directed authorities to hand over the 11 electric buses to the Murree district administration in June.
The Green Bus Electric Bus Project aims to modernise public transport while reducing environmental pollution. The initiative also seeks to provide residents and tourists with a safer and more convenient travel option in the popular hill station.
