Armed resistance groups in Afghanistan have claimed responsibility for targeted attacks against Taliban officials in separate parts of the country.
The groups say their latest operations show growing opposition to Taliban rule. They have also claimed that armed resistance against the Taliban is continuing.
However, the reported deaths and claims of responsibility remain allegations made by the respective resistance groups.
Resistance Group Claims Attack in Kandahar
The Afghanistan United Front claimed that its fighters carried out a targeted operation in Khakrez district of Kandahar province.
The group said Abdul Rahman Kot was killed during the operation. It described him as an official working for the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
According to the group, Kot had allegedly been involved in abuses against civilians. The allegations included violence, illegal arrests, false accusations and physical assault.
The group presented the attack as part of its continuing opposition to Taliban officials.
National Mobilisation Front Claims Jalalabad Operation
Separately, the National Mobilisation Front claimed responsibility for another operation in Jalalabad.
The group said the intelligence chief of Nangarhar prison was killed in the attack. It did not indicate that the two reported operations were part of the same incident.
Instead, the claims described separate armed actions against Taliban officials in different locations.
The National Mobilisation Front also said its armed campaign against the Taliban would continue.
Resistance Groups Vow to Continue Armed Operations
The group said it would maintain guerrilla attacks until what it described as the complete elimination of the Afghan Taliban, Islamic State and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the resistance groups claimed that opposition to Taliban rule is increasing across Afghanistan.
They also argued that growing public and armed resistance is weakening the Taliban’s hold on power. However, the claims were made by the groups themselves and were not independently established in the supplied report.
Targeted Attacks Reported Across Afghanistan
The latest claims come amid continuing reports from anti-Taliban groups about armed operations against Taliban officials and security personnel.
The reported incidents involve different locations across Afghanistan. They also reflect the resistance groups’ continued focus on targeted attacks against officials associated with the Taliban administration.
For now, the groups have continued to present their operations as part of a broader armed campaign against Taliban rule.
The latest claims from Kandahar and Jalalabad therefore add to the reported series of attacks involving Taliban officials and security personnel across Afghanistan.
