Multan Sultans, the current leaders of the table, handed defending champions Lahore Qalandars a resounding 60-run defeat on Tuesday, marking the sixth consecutive loss for Shaheen Shah Afridi’s team in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.
Sultans posted an impressive total of 214 runs for the loss of five wickets, securing a decisive victory in their encounter against Lahore Qalandars at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday. In the 14th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, Sultans won the toss and chose to bat first.
Usman Khan played a remarkable innings, contributing 96 runs off 55 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes. Reeza Hendricks provided solid support with a performance that yielded 40 runs off 27 balls. Iftikhar Ahmed added a late flourish to the innings, scoring 40 runs off just 18 balls, including an impactful 17 runs in a single over.
Shaheen Shah Afridi showcased his skills for Lahore Qalandars by taking 2 wickets for 39 runs.
Multan Sultans, the runners-up of the last PSL edition, currently lead the points table with eight points. In contrast, the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, are struggling to secure a victory in the ongoing edition, finding themselves at the bottom of the points table under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has suffered defeats in all five of their last games.
