The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah’s unilateral decision that the tournament will be held at a neutral site was denounced in a letter from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to the Asian Cricket Council.
After the BCCI announced that the Indian team would not tour Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup in 2023, the PCB also requested an emergency meeting of the ACC.
The Asia Cup having a neutral venue is not unprecedented, and we have decided not to visit Pakistan, said Shah, who is also the president of the ACC, after the BCCI’s 91st annual general meeting.
The BCCI official’s statement was now the subject of a PCB inquiry.
According to sources, PCB has threatened to skip the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, which is scheduled for next year. The mega tournament will be held in India from October to November of next year.
According to sources, PCB has the option to leave ACC as well.
According to the PCB letter, ACC is the forum for resolving this matter.
It’s worth noting that India last hosted Pakistan in a bilateral series in 2013, and the country hasn’t toured Pakistan since 2008. In addition, the last bilateral series between the archrivals was in 2012, when Pakistan visited India.
