PCB Ousts Entire Selection Committee Following World Cup Disappointment

Selection Committee

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) responded decisively to the national team’s lackluster performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 by dismissing the entire selection committee on Tuesday.

The move, orchestrated by PCB management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf, saw the removal of Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti, and Wasim Haider from their positions. In response to the shake-up, the PCB is anticipated to unveil a new selection committee within the next 48 hours, with the likelihood of a chief selector being chosen from a pool of former cricketers.

This overhaul follows the earlier resignations of Inzamamul Haq and Morne Morkel from their roles as chief selector and bowling coach, respectively.

The restructuring aims to inject fresh perspectives and strategies into the selection process, aiming for a rejuvenated team performance in future competitions. During a meeting with Ashraf, prominent former cricketers, including Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir, and Wahab Riaz, engaged in discussions that centered on matters related to the selection committee.

The deliberations underscore the PCB’s commitment to addressing challenges and optimizing the team’s composition for upcoming cricket events.
