Pakistani Players Rise in ICC Women’s ODI Rankings

In the latest ICC Women’s ODI Rankings, Pakistani cricketers Bismah Maroof, Sadia Iqbal, and Umm-e-Hani have showcased significant progress, marking a positive trend for the team.

Bismah Maroof, the former captain, has ascended one place to 27th, indicating her enduring prowess in the game. Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has notably climbed from 23rd to 17th position, buoyed by her commendable performance with three wickets in the initial two matches against the West Indies.

Umm-e-Hani has made a remarkable leap, advancing nine places to 60th in the bowling rankings, a testament to her growing impact on the field. Other notable movements in the bowling rankings include Connell, Henry, and Kavisha Dilhari of Sri Lanka, who have each climbed several places, reflecting their impressive performances.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings after an outstanding innings of 195 not out against South Africa. This remarkable feat, Athapaththu’s ninth ODI century, propelled her team to level the ICC Women’s Championship Series 1-1. Athapaththu’s resurgence at the top of the rankings sees her surpass England’s Natalie Sciver-Brunt.

Another notable riser is Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa’s former number-one batter, who has ascended two places to third position after her unbeaten 184-run innings, contributing to South Africa’s formidable total of 301 for five in the third ODI.

The rankings also highlight the remarkable performances of other players, including West Indies captain Hayley Mathews, who surged seven places to 11th position among batters and second in the all-rounders’ list following her stellar performance against Pakistan. Former West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor has also made gains, moving up two places to 18th in the batting rankings.

Overall, the latest rankings underscore the dynamic nature of women’s cricket, with players from various teams making significant strides in their respective positions, further enriching the sport with their talent and dedication.
