Pakistan Levels Series with Resounding 10-Wicket Victory as Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed Star

Pakistan delivered a commanding performance in the second ODI, leveling the three-match series against Zimbabwe with a crushing 10-wicket triumph. The victory was spearheaded by Saim Ayub’s sensational maiden ODI century and debutant Abrar Ahmed’s remarkable four-wicket haul.

Chasing a modest target of 146, Pakistan sealed the win in just 26.2 overs, with 190 balls to spare. Saim Ayub was in exceptional form, smashing an unbeaten 113 off 62 balls, featuring 20 boundaries and three sixes. This innings marked the third-fastest ODI century by a Pakistani batter, following Shahid Afridi. Abdullah Shafique supported with a steady 32*, as the pair comfortably saw Pakistan to victory without losing a wicket.

Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe struggled against a relentless Pakistani bowling attack and were dismissed for a mere 145 runs in 32.5 overs. Abrar Ahmed made an impressive ODI debut, taking 4/33, while Salman Ali Agha contributed with 3/34. Faisal Akram and Saim Ayub chipped in with one wicket each.

Zimbabwe’s batting line-up faltered early, losing openers Tadiwanashe Marumani (4) and Joylord Gumbie (5) cheaply. A brief 38-run stand between Dion Myers (33) and captain Craig Ervine offered a glimmer of hope, but the middle order collapsed rapidly, leaving the hosts at 97/5. Sean Williams provided a late fight with 31 runs but received little support from the lower order.

Pakistan’s bowlers cleaned up the tail efficiently, wrapping up Zimbabwe’s innings at 145. With the series now tied 1-1, the decisive final ODI is set for Thursday at the same venue, where both teams will vie for the series win.
