According to a representative for the cricket board, Pakistan’s highly regarded teenage fast bowler, Naseem Shah, was brought to the hospital with an infection and will miss the fifth Twenty20 international against England later on Wednesday.
After reviewing his medical records, it will be decided whether the 19-year-old will be available for the next seven matches of the series.
A representative for the Pakistan Cricket Board stated, “Naseem was taken to the hospital on Tuesday night with a viral infection and will not be available for Wednesday’s match.”
In his four wicketless overs in the first game of the series, Naseem gave up 41 runs.
Four matches in Karachi have resulted in a 2-2 tie in the series. Lahore is home to the final three.
After 17 years, England is visiting Pakistan for the first time.
