Muhammad Rizwan Out of T20I Series Against New Zealand Due to Injury

Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan suffered a significant setback as he sustained a hamstring injury during the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand.

The injury occurred while Rizwan was batting, leading to his retirement hurt in the third T20I match. Following a medical evaluation, the team doctor advised Rizwan against further participation in the series, recommending rest and rehabilitation for a complete recovery.

Rizwan’s absence will undoubtedly be a blow to the Pakistani side, especially given his stellar performance in previous matches. Particularly noteworthy was his crucial role in Pakistan’s commanding victory in the second T20I, where he excelled both with the bat and behind the stumps.

His exceptional form also saw him achieve a significant milestone, becoming the fastest batter to reach 3000 T20I runs, surpassing the records set by India’s Virat Kohli and his teammate Babar Azam. Rizwan’s achievement in just 79 innings underscores his status as one of the premier batsmen in T20 cricket.

Before his injury, Rizwan had been in scintillating form, consistently delivering match-winning performances for Pakistan. His contributions have played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s success in the ongoing series against New Zealand.

With Rizwan sidelined, Pakistan will need to regroup and adjust their strategy for the remainder of the series, aiming to maintain their lead and secure victory against the Kiwi side.

Following Pakistan’s win in the second T20I, captain Babar Azam expressed the team’s determination to sustain their winning momentum. He stressed the importance of setting the tone early in the game and highlighted the outstanding performance of Pakistan’s bowling unit in restricting the opposition.
