Mohammad Yousuf, a former cricket player for Pakistan, is reportedly in talks to become the national team’s batting coach.
Yousuf was formerly employed as the batting coach at the National High-Performance Centre (NHPC), Lahore, and his dismissal from that post led to this decision. The NHPC will soon be advertising for a new batting coach.
On the fourth day of the Karachi Test, Pakistan’s batting was praised by Australian batting coach Matthew Hayden, who also wrote a touching letter to the Pakistani players. It is widely believed that Mohammad Yousuf will take up the role of batting coach for Pakistan.
Cricket Australia had recruited Matthew Hayden, a former Australian batsman, as a batting consultant for the Twenty20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia later this year, but Hayden has decided to part ways with the green shirts.
According to reports, head coach Saqlain Mushtaq requested his services as a temporary batting coach for the Pakistan team’s home series against Australia.
Yousuf is now in Sri Lanka with the Pakistan Test team, who won the first of two Tests against the hosts in Galle.
