England Storm into T20 World Cup 2024 Semi-Finals with Dominant 10-Wicket Win Over USA

England became the first team to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals after defeating the United States by 10 wickets in their most recent Super 8 match at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Sunday.

Jos Buttler and Phil Salt chased down the 116-run target in just 9.4 overs without losing a wicket, dismantling all of the USA spinners. Buttler scored an explosive 83 off 38 balls, featuring six fours and seven sixes, including hitting five consecutive sixes off USA’s Harmeet Singh in the ninth over. Despite being the last team to qualify for the Super 8, England were the first to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Earlier in the first innings, England’s bowlers dominated, restricting the USA to 115 runs in 18.5 overs. Chris Jordan took four wickets in the 19th over, including a remarkable hat-trick, making him only the second bowler after Australia’s Pat Cummins to achieve this feat in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The English bowlers consistently took wickets from the start, leaving the USA batsmen struggling. Key contributions came from Nitish Kumar (30 off 24), Corey Anderson (29 off 28), and Harmeet Singh (21 off 17), while captain Aaron Jones managed only 10 runs off 16 balls.

In addition to Jordan’s four wickets, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid claimed two each, while Liam Livingstone and Reece Topley picked up one apiece.
