Dortmund’s Sancho Faces Uncertain Status Ahead of Clash with Frankfurt

Borussia Dortmund’s crucial encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt this Sunday may be without the influential presence of Jadon Sancho, with coach Edin Terzic confirming concerns over the forward’s hamstring injury on Friday.

Sancho, who returned to Dortmund on a six-month loan from Manchester United, has been pivotal in recent matches, notably scoring in his last two outings. Despite facing challenges at Manchester United, Sancho appears to have regained his form, notably scoring his first goal since May 2023 in the recent victory against Werder Bremen.

His impact was also evident in the Champions League, where he found the net in Wednesday’s win over PSV Eindhoven, propelling Dortmund into the quarter-finals.

However, Sancho’s availability for Sunday’s game is in doubt after being substituted due to a hamstring concern in the PSV clash. Terzic provided reassurance, stating that tests conducted on Thursday revealed the injury is not severe. Nonetheless, Sancho will undergo individual training sessions, and his status for Sunday’s match will be assessed accordingly.

Terzic expressed optimism, suggesting, “Even if he’s missing (on Sunday), it won’t be for long.”

With only nine matches remaining this season, Dortmund currently occupies fourth place, with every player’s contribution crucial in the final stretch, especially given the tight competition with RB Leipzig.
