Azhar Mahmood declared his intention to pursue legal action over unfounded accusations

Pakistan team’s Assistant Coach Azhar Mahmood has announced his intention to take legal action against those spreading false allegations against him and his family on various media and social platforms.

In a statement posted on his official X account, Mahmood addressed the accusations circulating on social media and other platforms alleging that families of players and coaching staff traveled to the United States for the T20 World Cup 2024 at the expense of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

He vehemently denied these claims as “entirely baseless and false,” emphasizing the danger of spreading misinformation without evidence.

Mahmood stressed that making false accusations and distorting facts is a criminal offense, and he intends to seek legal recourse against those responsible for these misleading claims. He condemned the practice of manipulating narratives to garner attention and followers, urging people to refrain from engaging with such harmful misinformation.

In related developments, it was reported that Pakistan captain Babar Azam is also contemplating legal action against YouTubers and former players who allegedly made defamatory remarks about him during the T20 World Cup.

Following Pakistan’s disappointing performance and early exit from the tournament, criticism against Babar and the team intensified, prompting him to consider legal action.

Sources indicate that Babar Azam is in the process of consulting legal experts and may issue legal notices to individuals involved in spreading allegations against him. The PCB’s legal department is reportedly gathering evidence to support Babar in this matter.

The Pakistan team, along with its management, has faced scrutiny and criticism from fans and former players following their underwhelming performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, where they failed to progress to the Super Eight stage and were eliminated from the competition.
