On Sunday, the Australian men’s volleyball squad set foot in Pakistan for the very first time, geared up for a thrilling three-match showdown against the greenshirts.
Welcomed with open arms, the team arrived at Islamabad International Airport to warm greetings from officials of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation.
Nehemiah Mote spearheads the Australian Squad, accompanied by a talented roster including Luke Perry, Arshdeep Dosanjh, Jackson Holland, Trent O’dea, Matthew Aubrey, Max Senica, Beau Graham, Thomas Heptinstall, Sam Flowerday, Nicholas Butler, Ethan Garrett, William D’arcy Miles, and Jacob Baird. Steering the team as head coach is Daniel Ilott, supported by coaches James Begley, Alec Walker, and Brendan Garlick.
The series kicks off with the inaugural match on May 28 at Liaquat Gymnasium, nestled within the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. Following suit, the second match is slated for May 29, and the final clash of the series will take place on May 30.
A press conference is scheduled for Monday, followed by an intense practice session to fine-tune strategies.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, Chairman of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation, announced that entry to all matches will be free of charge. He fervently urged fans to turn out in droves to rally behind the teams in their quest for victory.
