Asif Ali could be suspended for future match for flashing his bat at Afghan bowler

On Thursday, it was said that Pakistani batter Asif Ali could be suspended for a couple of games for breaking the ICC Code of Conduct during a match against Afghanistan at the Asia Cup 2022.

Reports say that Match Referee Andy Pycroft held the hearing and gave out penalties after the game was over for breaking Level 1 of the rule.

After a tough match, Asif Ali lost his composure and furiously waved his bat towards Fareed Ahmad.
On September 7, 2022, Afghanistan and Pakistan argued after Fareed Ahmad of Afghanistan was dismissed from their Twenty20 international cricket Super Four match in Sharjah.

During the Afghanistan and Pakistan Twenty20 international cricket Super Four match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on September 7, 2022, Pakistan’s Asif Ali (R) and Afghanistan’s Fareed Ahmad (L) argued after a dismissal.

Asif Ali, a batter for Pakistan, may be suspended for a few games for an alleged breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2022 match against Afghanistan, according to reports from DUBAI on Thursday.

The hearing, where the players were told of their fines for violating Level 1 of the code, reportedly took place after the game was over and was presided over by Match Referry Andy Pycroft.

Today, the ICC will make a ruling on the matter.

A senior sports correspondent for Geo News, Abdul Majid Bhatti, claimed that Pycroft is one of the hardest match referees on the ICC panel and that the players could face maximum penalty for their behaviour.

A ban on Asif Ali could cause problems for Pakistan in the final versus Sri Lanka, he suggested, while it might not be as significant for Afghanistan.

According to reports from DUBAI on Thursday, Pakistani batter Asif Ali could be suspended for a few games for allegedly breaking the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2022 match against Afghanistan.

The hearing, where the players were told how much they had to pay for breaking Level 1 of the code, is said to have happened after the game was over. Match Referry Andy Pycroft was in charge of the hearing.

Today, the ICC will decide what to do about it.

Abdul Majid Bhatti, a senior sports reporter for Geo News, said that Pycroft is one of the toughest match referees on the ICC panel and that the players could get the harshest punishment for their actions.

He said that if Asif Ali was banned, it could be hard for Pakistan to play Sri Lanka in the final, but it might not be as important for Afghanistan.
