The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Punjab has arrested two suspects over alleged social media content targeting state institutions.
The arrests came during separate operations in Bahawalpur and Multan on Thursday.
According to the NCCIA, both suspects allegedly shared misleading and hateful content through social media platforms.
The agency also recovered two Android mobile phones and related social media accounts from their possession.
Suspect Arrested in Bahawalpur
NCCIA officials arrested Muhammad Imran Siddique from Abbas Nagar in Bahawalpur. The agency accused him of sharing misleading content through Instagram.
Investigators took his mobile phone and related social media accounts into custody during the operation. The digital material will now form part of the ongoing investigation.
Second Suspect Held in Multan
Meanwhile, NCCIA officials arrested Muhammad Rashid Jabbar in Multan. The agency alleged that he had spread content against state institutions and government officials on Facebook.
His arrest formed part of the same wider operation conducted by the NCCIA Punjab.
 The agency also recovered an Android mobile phone and related social media accounts from him.
Digital Evidence Under Forensic Examination
Following the arrests, investigators have begun examining the digital evidence linked to the suspects. Forensic analysis of their social media accounts is currently underway.
The examination will focus on the digital evidence recovered during the operation. Further investigation will proceed as authorities assess the material associated with the accounts.
The latest arrests highlight the NCCIA’s ongoing action against alleged misuse of social media platforms involving content directed at state institutions and government officials.
