KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and the Central Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested four suspected drug peddlers during two separate operations in Karachi and recovered a significant quantity of narcotics from their possession, reported 24NewsHD TV on Wednesday.
Police carried out the operations at Lasbella Chowk and Nishtar Road after receiving information about illegal online drug trafficking activities. According to investigators, the suspects allegedly sold narcotics through online bookings and supplied drugs to customers across different areas of the city.
During the first raid, officials arrested two suspects identified as Abdul Hameed and Mohammad Riaz. The SIU and CIA recovered 2 kilograms and 850 grams of hashish from their custody. Authorities said the accused had been involved in distributing drugs through organised channels operating via online communication platforms.
Meanwhile, in another operation, the Special Investigation Unit arrested two more suspects and seized 110 grams of ice, commonly known as crystal methamphetamine. Police identified the arrested men as Abdul Shakoor, also known as Mudai, and Usman, alias Pagal.
Investigators stated that the suspects allegedly supplied drugs to youngsters and individuals attending farmhouse parties in different parts of the city. Law enforcement officials added that the crackdown formed part of ongoing efforts to curb the growing narcotics trade and dismantle networks involved in online drug distribution.
Police have registered separate cases against the accused and launched further investigations to identify other members of the alleged drug trafficking network. Authorities also indicated that additional raids could take place in the coming days as investigators continue to trace the supply chain and financial links connected to the suspects.
