Government Offices to Close on July 29
The Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
The holiday will mark the annual Urs of renowned Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
According to an official notification, the holiday will apply to government offices across Sindh.
Autonomous and semi-autonomous organisations under the provincial government will also remain closed.
The order also covers government-controlled corporations and local councils.
However, departments providing essential public services will continue their operations.
Official Notification Confirms Province-Wide Closure
The Sindh Information Department shared the holiday notification through its official account on X.
The order identifies July 29 as the 14th of Safar, 1448.
The notification applies only to institutions operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
It does not automatically confirm a closure for private businesses, banks or federally controlled institutions.
Separate announcements may be required for organisations outside the provincial government’s authority.
Three-Day Urs to Be Held at Bhit Shah
The annual Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is observed at his shrine in Bhit Shah.
The three-day commemoration traditionally begins on the 14th of Safar.
Thousands of devotees, cultural groups and visitors are expected to attend the ceremonies.
The gathering celebrates Bhittai’s poetry, spiritual teachings and lasting contribution to Sindh’s cultural heritage.
Authorities are expected to introduce traffic, security and crowd-management arrangements around the shrine during the event.
