PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai has written to party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, urging him to defer the proposed long march.
In his letter, Yousafzai cited the country’s political and security situation and argued that the party should avoid confrontation amid heightened tensions.
He said Pakistan was facing external threats alongside a renewed wave of terrorism. According to Yousafzai, holding a protest movement under such circumstances could create additional security risks.
Yousafzai Raises Concerns Over Emergency
Yousafzai also expressed concern that the federal government could use the prevailing situation as a pretext to impose an emergency.
He urged the PTI leadership to focus on creating conditions for dialogue and negotiations rather than entering into direct confrontation with state institutions.
The PTI leader further warned that any possible aggression from Afghanistan could potentially be cited as justification for emergency measures.
His concerns come amid a shifting position within PTI over the planned Islamabad mobilisation. Earlier, Yousafzai had said the party was prepared for a peaceful march, while later reports confirmed that the protest was deferred amid security and political considerations.
PTI Leader Warns Of Provincial Government Risks
Yousafzai also alleged that the federal administration was building a narrative of non-cooperation against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
He expressed concern that such developments could lead to attempts to dismiss the provincial government. He also warned that allegations linking PTI with terrorism could potentially be used to seek a ban on the party.
The PTI leader referred to Imran Khan’s previous decision to call off a long march while prioritising the safety of party workers. He urged the leadership to consider the recommendation in light of the current political and security environment.
PTI later described postponing the march as a political strategy, while Yousafzai said the party remained committed to peaceful political struggle and dialogue.
