Afridi Objects After Pirzada Links Petโs Return to Missing Persons Issue
Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has strongly responded to former television anchor Moeed Pirzada after the commentator made political remarks about Afridiโs missing pet dog, Max.
The exchange began after Afridi appealed to the public for help when Max went missing.
The former Pakistan all-rounder had described the dog as a beloved member of his family and urged people to share information that could help locate him.
The public appeal eventually produced a positive outcome, with Afridi confirming that Max had returned home safely.
However, the development later became the subject of a heated social media exchange.
Pirzada commented on the news of Maxโs return by referring to missing persons in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.
He expressed the wish that missing people from those regions could also return home in the same way Afridiโs dog had been recovered.
Pirzada further argued that the rights of those people should receive the same level of public concern.
Afridi strongly objected to the comparison.
He said his original post had simply been a personal appeal asking members of the community to help locate his missing pet.
Afridi Accuses Pirzada of Politicising Personal Matter
Afridi responded by saying the community had supported his appeal and helped bring Max home.
He criticised Pirzada for turning what he described as a straightforward family matter into a political controversy.
Afridi said politicising the incident reflected what he called a declining mindset.
The former cricketer then escalated his response with a direct personal attack on Pirzada.
Afridi said Max was โa thousand times betterโ than the former television anchor.
He also made allegations concerning Pirzadaโs past conduct and departure from Pakistan.
Those allegations were presented by Afridi during the social media exchange and should not be treated as independently established facts.
Afridi concluded his response with the hashtag โMax ghar agya abb tum bhi ajao,โ effectively telling Pirzada that Max had returned home and suggesting he should do the same.
The remarks quickly attracted attention online as users began sharing screenshots and commenting on the increasingly personal exchange.
Maxโs Return Sparks Heated Social Media Debate
The controversy developed only after Afridiโs missing-dog appeal had ended successfully.
Afridi had earlier asked the public to help locate Max after the pet disappeared.
His appeal was widely circulated by fans, sports pages and other social media users.
The former Pakistan captain later confirmed that Max had been found and returned safely.
Pirzada used that development to raise the issue of missing persons, prompting Afridiโs sharp reaction.
Afridi maintained that his request had nothing to do with politics and was simply an attempt to recover a family pet.
The exchange has since generated debate among social media users over whether Pirzadaโs comparison was appropriate and whether Afridiโs response went too far.
For Afridi, however, the central point remained that Max had been safely recovered through community support.
He rejected attempts to connect the incident with wider political and human rights issues.
