Police have arrested a religious seminary teacher in Wazirabad, Punjab, for allegedly sexually abusing three young students. The shocking incident took place in the Fatehpur Chahtha area. The victims, aged between 7 and 15 years, accused the instructor of long-term exploitation and severe abuse.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspect had targeted the children repeatedly over an extended period. The students identified the accused as a cleric named Abdullah. They revealed that he used severe intimidation tactics to ensure their silence.
Specifically, the suspect threatened to tie the children with ropes and throw them into a canal if they informed their parents. Consequently, the fear kept the young victims from revealing their ordeal earlier. Police registered the formal criminal case immediately after the families came forward, leading directly to the suspect’s arrest. Law enforcement officials have vowed to pursue strict legal action against the teacher.

This disturbing case mirrors previous incidents of violence and abuse within regional seminaries. In 2021, Rawalpindi police arrested another cleric, Mufti Shahnawaz Ahmed, in the Pirwadhai area under similar charges.
In that previous instance, a father filed a complaint after the seminary management told him his daughter had fainted. Upon regaining consciousness, the victim revealed that the teacher had harassed her for months. When she resisted his advances, the suspect tortured her and drugged her, causing her to lose consciousness.
These recurring incidents continue to spark intense public outrage across Punjab. Citizens are demanding stricter oversight, background checks, and robust protection mechanisms for children enrolled in religious institutions nationwide.
