Islamabad administration has reminded citizens that Section 144 remains in force as Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf prepares for its planned September 27 protest.
The administration urged residents to avoid illegal activities and cooperate with security institutions during the restrictions.
Additional District Magistrate Dr Anam Fatima issued the order on September 18, imposing the restrictions for two months across Islamabad.
According to the order, authorities received reports that certain groups planned unlawful gatherings, processions and demonstrations within the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The administration said such activities could disrupt public peace and tranquillity amid the prevailing law and order and security situation.
It also warned that processions, including religious and sectarian gatherings, could create risks to public safety and property.
Furthermore, the order said such activities could cause public annoyance or injury and endanger human life and safety.
The administration also warned that unlawful gatherings could potentially trigger riots or clashes, including sectarian violence, within Islamabad.
The order stated that sufficient grounds existed to impose restrictions under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
Dr Anam Fatima said immediate preventive measures were necessary to protect public life and property in the federal capital.
The restrictions come as PTI prepares for its September 27 protest in Islamabad, adding to security concerns surrounding the planned gathering.
Meanwhile, the administration has asked citizens to comply with the restrictions and avoid participating in gatherings prohibited under the order.
Authorities have also called for cooperation with security institutions to help maintain public order during the two-month restriction period.
