Telenor Velocity and Google Join Forces to Boost Tech Ventures in Pakistan

Telenor Velocity, the startup accelerator arm of Telenor Pakistan, has joined forces with the American multinational corporation Google to bolster and support tech ventures in Pakistan, heralding a new era of collaboration in the country’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.

This partnership aims to unearth and nurture the most promising tech startups in Pakistan, providing them with a robust platform for innovation and access to valuable resources. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, Telenor Velocity and Google aspire to drive significant transformation within Pakistan’s tech landscape, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

As part of this collaboration, Telenor Velocity has been designated as a Community Partner for the Google Cloud Startup Competition Pakistan 2024. This strategic initiative holds immense potential to catalyze innovation and spur growth within the local startup community, offering aspiring entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to showcase their ideas and compete on a national stage.

The collaboration was formally inaugurated during the Islamabad edition of the ‘Master Your Pitch’ series, hosted at Telenor Pakistan’s 345 campus. This event provided a platform for budding innovators to pitch their startup concepts and receive valuable feedback from a panel of industry experts, comprising representatives from Zayn VC, Telenor Pakistan, Accelerate Prosperity, and the National Incubation Center Islamabad.

Attendees also benefitted from workshops and insights delivered by industry leaders on topics such as building sustainable business models and harnessing the power of Generative AI. Experts from Google, alongside representatives from Telenor Pakistan and local developer groups, shared their knowledge and insights with the participants, enriching their understanding of emerging technologies and market trends.

The Google Cloud Startup Competition offers startups the opportunity to compete across various tracks, including AI, e-commerce, fintech, digital technologies, and sustainability. Organized by Tech Valley Pakistan, this competition seeks to recognize and reward innovation in these specific domains, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence in Pakistan’s startup ecosystem.

The culmination of this collaboration will be the Grand Finals event in Karachi scheduled for late July 2024. Finalists from each track will have the chance to pitch their ventures to a distinguished panel of judges and industry leaders, with winners in each category receiving a cash prize of Rs. 1 million. Additionally, they will gain exclusive networking opportunities with prominent venture capitalists, further fueling innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan.
