Users now have the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending, pin up to three messages at the top of their inbox, disable read receipts for direct messages, choose from new chat themes, and save preferred stickers.
While initially introduced to a limited group, Meta has now made these features globally available. The goal is to facilitate better connections and provide users with increased control over their messaging interactions.
It’s not just Instagram receiving Meta’s updates. Threads, another Meta platform, is also getting enhancements in the form of new gestures. Users can quickly express approval or hide a post with right and left swipes, specifically within the For You tab.
The potential expansion of these gestures to other app sections remains uncertain. In a recent development, Instagram has been experimenting with an App Clip, allowing users to experience the Reels short video platform even without the Instagram app installed.
Additionally, a recent iOS update for Instagram introduced a Lock Screen widget, providing instant access to the Story Camera with a single tap.
Both Instagram and Threads are available for free on the App Store. To access these new features, make sure you have the latest versions of the apps installed.
