Clicks Introduces Physical Keyboard for iPhone, Elevating Typing Precision

Physical Keyboard

Clicks Technology has unveiled a solution for iPhone users nostalgic for physical keyboard buttons, introducing a case equipped with a built-in keyboard at the bottom, as reported by The Verge. Priced at $139, the case, aptly named Clicks, is set to ship the iPhone 14 Pro version starting from February 1, with plans to extend compatibility to the iPhone 15 Pro in March.

To utilize the Clicks case, users simply slide their iPhone into the case, aligning the phone’s power port with the USB-C or Lightning connector inside. Once connected, the built-in keyboard functions similarly to the physical keyboards found on older BlackBerry and Nokia phones, offering a tactile typing experience.

Noteworthy is that the Clicks case eschews Bluetooth connectivity and a separate battery, instead drawing power directly from the iPhone. Michael Fisher, co-founder of Clicks Technology, expressed the irony of smartphones abandoning physical buttons despite their prevalence on desktops, laptops, and tablets. The startup, founded by Fisher and Kevin Michaluk, aims to bridge this gap by reintroducing a physical keyboard experience to iPhone users.

Beyond the tactile keys, the Clicks case incorporates additional features inspired by computer keyboards, such as a backlight and CMD key to facilitate the use of iOS keyboard shortcuts.

This innovation caters to users seeking a familiar and enhanced typing experience on their iPhones, blending modern smartphone technology with the convenience of traditional physical buttons. As Clicks Technology unveils its pioneering product, it remains to be seen how iPhone enthusiasts will respond to this throwback to the era of tactile keyboard interfaces.
